The NUROL GROUP was founded in Ankara, Turkey in the 60’s, and began its development in the construction sector. Long-term programs with innovative technologies, company organization and performance, both in construction and trading fields, have advanced the GROUP to structured growth both nation-wide and internationally.

NUROL CONSTRUCTION AND TRADING CO. INC. (“NUROL”), which is the nucleus company of the NUROL GROUP, was established in 1966, as a general international contracting company, and since that time the Company pursued large scale, hi-tech transnational projects.

With its technological and administrative infrastructure, its leadership position in the construction sector, its technical and administrative staff reaching 8,000, its machinery and equipment park exceeding 150 million US Dollars, and its ability to provide financing, NUROL is able to meet the needs of both private and public prestigious employers within the scope of many high technology projects around the world. NUROL, which has consistently been listed on the "Engineering News Record" (ENR.com) Top International Contractors list since 2005, has successfully completed over 150 projects worldwide, exceeding a total value of 30 billion US dollars.

1980-1990 was a period of economic expansion for Turkey. In line with the booming national economy, NUROL extended its activities into oil producing countries particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and engaged in various “Turnkey” projects on Engineering-Procurement-Construction basis. With the level of success attained, NUROL has rightfully secured a prominent position among international Turkish contractors. The most significant developments of this period include the Yanbu Industrial City Residential Facilities, Makkah City Water Supply and Sewerage Network and Riyadh City Sewerage System Construction Projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ayaş Tunnel Construction Project, Turkish F16 Aircraft Manufacturing Facilities Construction and FNSS Armoured Combat Vehicles Manufacturing Complex projects in Turkey.

In 90’s, having a leading position in Turkey, NUROL’s international activities were focused particularly in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries through its affiliates. In 1991, just a year after the fall of the Soviet Union, we were assigned our first contract in Turkmenistan, and we were one of the first western companies to provide contracting services in the CIS.

Having been completed the major housing projects such as Beylikdüzü Mass Housing Project with 875 housing units, Bosphorus Tarabya Houses with 217 luxurious type houses and Bahçeşehir Satellite Town Project of 5 million m² project area and with 2,700 apartments in high-rise buildings and 550 villas, all constructed by NUROL together with all infrastructure works and public buildings, Nurol Residence with high-luxurious type houses, forming the crest level of housing sector in Turkey when it was built; Istanbul Metro First Stage and Istanbul Solid Waste Facilities serving Istanbul a major metropolis not only for Turkey but the region, Incegez Water Supply Tunnel serving to Ankara the Turkish capital, and; corporate building projects such as Maslak Nurol Plaza Business Center with a closed area of 60,000 m², Oasis Commercial Center with a project area of 50,000 m² locally and; Ashgabat Grand Turkmen Hotel, Kopet Dag and Olympic Park Stadiums in Turkmenistan, the Serahs Railway Terminal Building at the Iran-Turkmenistan Border, Kabul-Kandahar Highway Rehabilitation Project in Afghanistan (under the Contract signed with the Louis Berger Group Inc. (USA) and Maximus Warehouse Complex (comprised of 90,000 m² closed area corporate building facilities over a project area of 110 hectares) in Warsaw/Poland realized as a joint investment, NUROL’s achievements were progressed with increased growth trend as we entered the 21st Century.

The accomplishments have also progressed in the first years of 21st Century. Kürtün Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (the first concrete faced rock-fill type dam in Turkey), the 570 million US Dollar valued 150 km long Toprakkale-İskenderun Motorway Project which is a part of the Trans-European Motorway in Turkey and 350 million US Dollar Bolaman-Perşembe Section of Black Sea Coastal Dual Base Highway Project including the longest highway tunnel of Turkey and opened to traffic as of March 2007 (both realized through the foreign loans supplied by NUROL), 270 million US Dollar valued, 95 km long Kemerhisar-Eminlik section of the Ankara-Pozantı Motorway Project, (which forms the main section of the Trans-European Motorway in Anatolia and is realized through the foreign loans supplied by the Contractor Groups), Sheraton Apart Hotel, Congress and Cultural Center (the facilities have a closed area of 36,000 m² and a congress center with one of the highest capacities for its type not only in the region but in Europe) forming the complimentary facilities to existing NUROL GROUP member Sheraton Ankara Convention Centre and  MN Bahçeşehir Houses Project, comprised of 1500 luxurious residences totally were completed.

NUROL has included numerous mega projects, both domestically and internationally, among its references since the 2010s.

MARMARAY Bosphorus Tube Tunnel Crossing for metro under the sea in Istanbul, which is approximately 13.6 km long with 1.4 km section of undersea crossing constructed by immersed tube tunneling technology (the deepest immersed tube tunnel in the world with a depth of 56 meters), 427 km long Gebze-İzmir Motorway BOT project including the 4.5 km long (including approach roads) Osmangazi Suspension Bridge over İzmit Bay which is the fourth biggest bridge in the world when it was built with its 1550 meter long mid-span,  Ilısu Dam and HEPP Project having the second highest body volume in Turkey with its body volume of 25 million m³ and having the fourth biggest installed capacity with  a power plant of 1,200 MW are the major projects have been added to references within this period.  Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe Metro Line, which is 13 km long and has 11 stations, connecting 3 districts on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, 21.4 km long Ordu Ring Road Project, approximately 9.5 km of which is passed as a double tube tunnel, The 16.7 km Silifke - Mut Road Project, includes the II. Kılıç Arslan Bridge, which will be among the world's leading cable-stayed bridges when completed with a pylon height of 173 m, Eğiste Viaduct Project which is the highest and longest balanced cantilever viaduct of Turkey with its  total length of 1372 meters and 155 meter height, Yusufeli Dam Viaducts project which includes the construction of 4 numbers of viaducts with a height up to 152 meters to replace the existing road which will be flooded by Yusufeli Dam Reservoir and 12 km long İzmir Çiğli Tram Line Project are among NUROL’s other notable domestic projects.

In addition to these, Nurol Tower, Nurol Park and Nurol Life Projects were completed, all of which are %100 Nurol Group investment with a total value of 700 million USD. Among the projects that NUROL has undertaken in recent years are the industrial facilities built for TAI, the Dry Pet Food Factory built for Nestle, and the Asian Region Treatment Facility being built to meet İstanbul’s drinking water needs.

In addition to the mentioned achievements, the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe regions are held as a focus of business development activities through the projects carried out in Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Romania, Georgia, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Having carried out its first project in Algeria with the Douera Dam, NUROL's activities in Algeria are progressing through Souk Tlata Dam, Boukhroufa Dam and Tizi Ouzou East West Connection Road projects, while the Al Jadida Safi Highway Project in Morocco, worth 260 Million USD was completed in 2017.

In 2007, NUROL completed its first project in the United Arab Emirates with the Abu Al Shouum (Al Reem) Island and Abu Dhabi Connection Bridge Project. Following this milestone, NUROL successfully completed prestigious projects such as Jumeriah Village Villas, Khalidiya Palace Rotana Hotel and Residences, IP44 Sea Palace Interchange, Bridges, and Tunnels, Marina City Villas and Residences, Bab Al Qasr Hotel and Multipurpose Complex, Creek Gate, and Beach Vista Residences, bringing the total number of projects in the country to 30. With the Riyadh City South Infrastructure Project, which is at the completion stage, the total project portfolio in the UAE has surpassed the 3 billion USD mark.

In 2019, NUROL expanded its operations to Romania, and immediately after completing the 13.5 km long Nusfalau – Suplacu de Barcau Highway Project at the end of 2023, it undertook the construction of the 13.9 km long Ploiesti – Buzau Highway, Pietroasele Buzau Section, and the 24.4 km long Târgu Mureș - Târgu Neamț Highway, Section 1, with a total value exceeding 800 million euros.

In Georgia, Sheraton Batumi Hotel Complex is completed and opened to service in May 2010 as a 100% NUROL GROUP investment.

The compliance of NUROL's activities in the Head Office and Projects with the requirements of ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System is periodically audited and certified by an international independent certification company with UKAS and TÜRKAK accreditation. NUROL also has the "NATIONAL SECRET" and "NATO SECRET" Confidentiality Grade Facility Security certificate issued by the Ministry of National Defense.
