As a result of the recent precipitation, the water level in Ilısu reservoir has reached 100 meters. The 16th Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) announced that the volume of water in the catchment had reached 5 billion cubic meters. With the precipitation witnessed last week, the water level in the Ilısu reservoir has reached 100 meters. Meanwhile, the old settlement of Hasankeyf, located in the reservoir, is about to be completely submerged. In a statement released by the 16th Regional Directorate of the DSİ, it was said: “The water height in Ilısu reservoir has reached 100 meters, while the volume of stored water has reached some 5 billion cubic meters. Wet tests required to be conducted before the energy generation phase are continuing. Ilısu dam will make an annual contribution of 2.5 billion Turkish liras to the country’s economy.”
