The 3rd Lot Of The Ploiești–Buzău Motorway, One Of The Most Important Sections Of Romania’s A7 Motorway, Is Officially Opening To Traffic

The Ploiești–Buzău Motorway Lot-3 section, one of the most critical steps in Romania’s goal to modernize its national road infrastructure, is opening to traffic months ahead of schedule following the completion of construction works.

The 13.9-kilometer Lot-3 section extends from Pietroasele to Buzău, covering the route from km 49+350 to km 63+250. As a vital component of the transport corridor from Bucharest to the Moldova region, it is expected to ease intra-regional traffic flows and accelerate both national and international trade. The route includes modern infrastructure components—including 6 bridges, 1 underpass, 2 major interchanges, a service area, and an operation and maintenance center—all designed to safely and sustainably accommodate the project’s full traffic load.

FIRST 3 KILOMETERS WERE OPENED TO TRAFFIC 6 MONTHS AHEAD OF THE CONTRACTUAL DEADLINE

One of the project’s most notable achievements was the record-speed completion of the first 3-kilometer stretch near the DN2B interchange. This section was opened to traffic approximately six months before the contractual deadline. The entire project is now being finalized and will enter service on 27 November 2025, five months earlier than stipulated in the contract—marking yet another significant accomplishment.

With the completion of Lot 3 section, the A7 Motorway further strengthens the uninterrupted transportation chain along the “Moldova Route,” a critical axis within Romania’s northeastern transport corridor. As a result:

  • Connectivity between Bucharest and the Moldova region is enhanced,
  • Logistics flows accelerate and trade volumes gain momentum,
  • Traffic safety improves and travel times are reduced,
  • Regional development receives a substantial boost,
  • And a new benchmark is set for the modernization of the country’s transportation infrastructure.
