The Council of Ministers Approves Nationalization and Plan of Highway | Ahmet Emin Yılmaz- Bursa Olay / 08.06.2013

The most important and longest transportation project in recent years… The highway will take start from Istanbul and reach Izmir after passing Bursa. It is named after Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway. Hence, it will interconnect Marmara and Aegean Regions, which are the most developed regions in Turkey in terms of industrial production, export and urban living.

According to the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 27 May 2013, the General Directorate of Highways will urgently nationalize the lands on the route within the scope of the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway Project, including Izmit Korfez Gecisi and link roads. Thus, the General Directorate of Highways will litigate in order for the nationalization studies on the lands on the route not to be hindered through presenting the authority granted by the Council of Ministers. The lands will urgently be valuated in accordance with the court order, and the determined price will be deposited and blocked in a bank in the name of the holders of the lands. In this process, the persons whose lands are decided to be nationalized can collect the money deposited in the bank in their names, and they might file a court case for increasing the price if they deem the price to be unsatisfactory. However, the action for annulment cannot be brought. Moreover, trial will not affect the nationalization process. Acquiring the lands on the route owing to the urgent nationalization method under the decision of the Council of Ministers, the General Directorate of Highways will have ensured the initiation and progression of the construction as soon as possible.
