FIRST TURBINE IN THE 18-BILLION PROJECT TO ENTER INTO SERVICE TODAY / AKŞAM | MAY 19, 2020

The first turbine of Ilısu Dam, which cost 18 billion lira, including the expense of providing protection to cultural assets, will enter into service today. The first of the six turbines of Ilısu Dam, as one of Turkey’s largest electricity generation projects, is being commissioned on 19 May, Commemorating the Atatürk Youth and Sports Day. The commissioning ceremony, to be attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via a video link-up, will also be attended by Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, and Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
